Fail
I think I’ve broken my kids. I admit, since having children I don’t listen to much music. When they were infants I wanted to be able to talk to them in the car and as they’ve gotten older I’ve just been too lazy to screen my “prekid” music to make sure it is appropriate.
Both kids adore the movie Cars and I noticed recently that they have started singing along with the songs in the movie. Being the super sweet mom I am, I downloaded the soundtrack and tried to play it for them on the way home in the car today.
From the backseat “MOMMY TV NOT WORKING”
Me “Oh, no this isn’t a movie guys, this is just music. Isn’t it great?”
“MOMMY I CAN’T SEE LIGHTENING MCQUEEN!!”
“Well honey, Lightening isn’t there. This is just a song from the movie”
“MOMMY PICTURES NOT WORKING. WHERE PICTURES?”
Muttered under my breath “#$*%)@”
Duplicity
You know that old storyline where the main character is supposed to be in two places at once? They race back and forth across town hoping that their wife won’t notice they keep ducking out of her garden party while also praying that their boss won’t notice they keep running to the bathroom every other play of the football game. This is how I have been spending my nights for so long I can’t even remember it any other way. I usually start off with my little girl curled up against me. Then, sometime during the night, my little boy sits up and starts pitifully looking around for me. I rush to snuggle down beside him, hoping to fool him into thinking I was there all along and then I doze off. Repeat scene a few hours later, only this time it is his sister stirring and wondering where her mama is. I hop back into my spot beside her and she is none the wiser. I’m beginning to see the benefits of this sister wife craze…
