Upon losing my religion
I love the approach of Christmastime. The weather gets chillier, there is the promise of extra time off work for the husband to spend with us, yummy food, cuddly clothes, fires in the fireplace… did I mention the food? It all seems so magical when it is hovering on the horizon. Then… it arrives. Ornery relatives comes to town and argue with each other, money starts to get spent hand over fist, the GEE DEE lights for the tree that we just.bought.last.year are only half way working, the stupid train I bought to zip around the base of the tree keeps falling off the tracks, laundry piles up since winter clothes are loads bulkier than summer ones… yeah. Did I say I liked this time of year? The stupid Elf on the Shelf mocks me as I swear under my breath while struggling to wrap an oversize present. And then, I start to look forward to spring. Spring.. now there’s a nice time of year.
