I think I’m doing something wrong..

So I went to the mall today and got each kid two Jibbitz for their Crocs. They didn’t have any yet and I had been wanting to get them a few but hadn’t had time to find the right ones and pay for them before my kids de-racked four hundred pairs of shoes. Upon returning home I proudly presented each child with one Thomas and one Mickey Mouse. This is the reaction I got:
The Weebles wailed and threw herself on the floor because she couldn’t have all four of them and also because she needed many many more because she had seen other kids with their Crocs filled with them.

The Peanut frantically tried to get his off his Crocs and had a meltdown because he couldn’t free Thomas from his shoe prison.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Twenty Months

My little man turns twenty months old today. I wouldn’t have even noticed except I was thinking the other day that he is making such huge strides in development that I really should write some of these things down in his baby book. But I’d have to find it first. Ahem.

All of a sudden he is talking. Like, we can have a real conversation, talking. Yesterday he was snuggling his blankie and saying “My Gi Gi” and I grabbed him and said “my baby” and his response was “NOT!” And I thought about it and then tried “my big boy?” and giggled and said “yeah!” He can tell you what he wants, and most definitely what he doesn’t want. He can tattle on his big sister and tell me he is sad when his grandma goes home.
There are strides in other areas as well. He has finally learned to jump and that is really exciting for him. He had been doing this weird skipping motion for months and finally he put it all together to get both his feet off the ground at the same time. His climbing isn’t quite as out of control as it has been in the past so that keeps my heart rate down a bit. But, that doesn’t mean he stays out of trouble. Just in the past week he has managed to find not one, but TWO, cups discarded by strangers in stores and drink out of them before I could stop him. I suppose by child number three my kids will just be lapping their beverages off of the floor of Target. I know that he is going to continue to find new ways to test me and I look forward to trying my best to stay one step ahead. Or at least no more than two behind?

Tweets that weren’t

I’ve been doing quite a bit of sewing lately. And while I have several crafty mama’s that follow me I held back when it came to a string of thoughts that I was tempted to tweet. Here they are:

Another Saturday night spent cuddled up with my seam ripper. #notasracyasitsounds

Dear Bernina, Why do you sell a sewing machine marketed as “quilter’s edition” that comes without a walking foot?

Spray baste, you give me a reason to live.

ZOMG, What the EFF is my bobbin doing now?!?

Things are a little awkward between my sewing machine and I after the cussing out I gave it last night.

Just learned what a thimble is for! Eff that hurt.

I’m not sure I’m cut out for this crafty stuff….
